Description: Corlears School, an independent elementary school in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan, is seeking a passionate, engaging, experienced educator to serve as a part-time STEAM teacher for its afterschool program. The afterschool STEAM program will serve approximately 10-15 children each day, ages 8-10, in a Corlears School classroom.
Job Hours and Dates:
Monday through Friday, 3:15 pm to 4:45 pm
This position is for the 2017-18 academic school year; from approximately August 28, 2017 through June 7, 2018 (with school vacations interspersed)
Primary Job Responsibilities:
Plan, organize, and supervise a variety of age-appropriate STEAM activities for participating students
Develop curricular arch for activities, so that returning students can grow in abilities and interest over time (while making activities accessible for first-time students)
Effectively manage the activity space, ensuring the health, happiness, and enjoyment of each participating student
Coordinate with Director of Auxiliary Programs to ensure proper materials are available for each class, and organized at the class’ conclusion so that projects can be worked on over multiple days
