In this challenging role, you will support Tutoring Central at Greenville Technical College by assisting students who are having academic difficulties in specified courses and motivate them to improve their academic performance. Duties may include any or all of the following:
-Tutor students who are having academic difficulties in Math (basic math, algebra, geometry and statistics), Anatomy & Physiology, and Biology courses.
-Share specific skills and tips for improving academic performance in a course(s).
-Encourage students to improve their academic performance.
-Maintain the required paperwork on each student tutored and submit in a timely manner.
-Other responsibilities as assigned by Campus Coordinator or Director.
**Anyone interested in tutoring Math, English, Chemistry, and/or Physics will need to take a Content Knowledge Test before being interviewed.**

-College coursework with an earned “A or B” grade in the course to be tutored. Professional tutors must have a degree, preferably a Bachelor's or Master's in related teaching discipline. -Ability to clearly demonstrate and explain knowledge of the course subject matter to students. -Ability to work independently and with individuals from all socio-economic backgrounds.
-Ability to follow departmental procedures and guidelines.
-Able to pass a Content Knowledge Test (for certain courses) with an 80% or above.
-Must be able to devote an entire semester to tutoring and be able to work at any GTC campus.
-Must be able to tutor students one-on-one and/or in a lab setting.
-Must be familiar with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet Explorer).
-Must be able to attend training and/or orientation prior to beginning work.
-Student tutors must be able to work at least 10 hours a week and professional tutors should be able to work at least 20 hours a week.
NOTE: Current Greenville Tech students must be able to obtain and submit two faculty recommendations. Forms will be provided.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS College coursework with an earned "A" grade in the course to be tutored.
