Full Time 40 hours Grade 007 Medicine-Genetics Schedule 8 AM-4:30 PM Responsibilities With minimum direction and latitude for independent judgment, performs routine and non-routine duties requiring advanced administrative skills and proficiency for the Genetics Division. This position supports the Genetic Counselors and Physicians for all departmental administrative details and duties with the end goal of providing excellent patient care. Responsibilities: Create and maintain patient database using Progeny web based software Use pedigree drawing software to create pedigree from information obtained in pre-appointment phone call or questionnaire Use information obtained at clinic visit to update data in pedigree and enter information for cancer risk calculations Work with genetic counselors and physicians to extract patient data when needed for patient follow up Pre and Post Clinic preparation and follow up Assemble clinic folder with patient charts, schedule for Physician review Verify that all pending labs are complete prior to appointment Verify insurance prior to clinic Package genetic testing blood samplesfor shipping, complete test requisition forms to accompany samples Add patient identifiers to documents for scanning Attend clinic with providers and assist with patient flow as needed Assist genetic counselors with completion of test requisitions and review forms with patient for accuracy and understanding.Obtain patient signatures on forms where needed Copy insurance cards Check in and Check out of patients Direct patients to lab and pick up all testing samples at end of clinic Office support Answer phones and triage patient requests/inquiries Manage and sort mail and correspondence, maintain files and office supplies for the Genetics Division Maintain inventory of test kits, requisitions etc for multiple locations Qualifications High School diploma and 2.5 years related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 4 year degree in Biology or related field preferred. Strong interest in genetics or genetic counseling. Other degrees/experience will be considered.
