NYU's Institute for the Study of Decision Making is seeking an experienced Senior Security Specialist to join the Human Project. The Human Project will have 100-150 staff members and supported contractors and will collect and maintain the largest dataset of any longitudinal study from 10,000 subject participants. The Senior Security Specialist will lead technical and operational tasks to design, develop, implement and maintain network and information security solutions using technologies and processes to ensure the confidentiality, integrity and availability of the project’s information assets. The Specialist will be a proactive leader, keeping abreast of the latest technologies and identifying opportunities to leverage them to improve the data center’s security posture and ensure that the project upholds its promise to maintain privacy and confidentiality of all study participants’ data.
Required Education: Bachelor’s degree.
Preferred Education: Master’s Degree preferred.
Required Experience: 3+ years in a management role at a secure data center with Windows and Linux machines, preferably compliant with federal data standards (NIST).
Preferred Experience: Experience with HIPAA, FISMA, and/or FERPA is preferred. CISSP preferred.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Experience managing authorized data access to researchers in addition to business analysts.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Passion for the craft with a demonstrated ability to learn and understand the technology both at a high level and at a detailed level. Excellent documentation and communication skills, a proactive and detail-oriented approach, and the ability to communicate technical information to nontechnical audiences. Energetic and resourceful, a strong team-oriented attitude, and the ability to establish work priorities for self and direct report. Ability to manage small teams on engineering projects.
