Advertised Summary Job Description: Columbia is undertaking the design and construction of a new campus in the Manhattanville section of West Harlem. This new campus resolves the University's need for additional space while providing active ground floor retail opportunities, open space, and enhanced access to the waterfront.
The proposed area of development comprises approximately 6.8 million sf of new development over its 17 acres and extends roughly from the south side of West 125th Street to 133rd Street and from Broadway to Twelfth Avenue. Also included are properties on the east side of Broadway from West 131st Street to 134th Street between Broadway and Old Broadway. As it proceeds through the City's formal rezoning process, the Uniform Land Use Review Procedure (ULURP), Columbia is building its Manhattanville team and seeking an Executive Director, Field Compliance to oversee a team of technical experts in various disciplines. The Associate Project Manager is responsible for assisting with project management of major capital projects from inception, including programming, design, bidding, and construction, in accordance with recognized industry standards as well as established budgets, schedules, and quality standards. Responsible for managing schedules, budgets and ensuring quality control for all projects. Oversees the bid solicitation and award process for major construction projects and assisting with contract awards. Responsible for actively managing, monitoring, and reporting relevant financial and administrative information and taking appropriate corrective actions as required. Provides guidance and assistance to the University community on the feasibility, programming, cost and scheduling of major construction projects. Works closely with architects, engineers, and construction managers. Assist with preparation status reports and presentations to Departmental and University Executive staff.
The Associate Project Manager will assist with the management of consultants and contractors responsible for the design, procurement, construction and installation of various systems. He/She will monitor contractors, and consultants for compliance with the program, enforce the program, and report on compliance.
General Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required. 4 - 6 years of related experience required.
Additional Specific Minimum Qualifications: The successful candidate will have an established record of progressively responsible positions in the field as well as a demonstrated ability to work with professional staff effectively. Must have strong communication and organizational skills.
The candidate must be able to manage project activities, from design to installation, work with internal/external personnel to ensure project meets deadlines. The candidate possess strong prioritization, organization and time management skills. Ability to multi-task and excel in a fast paced environment. Must be able to interpret bid specifications, drawings and bid estimates.
Preferred Qualifications: Advance degree preferred. An end-user focused attitude and a successful track record, and the implementation of successful construction programs desired.
