This Patient Access Registration position is responsible forobtaining complete and accurate patient demographic, insurance (eligibilityand/or verification), and financial information as well as collections ofcopays/deductibles, for inpatients, outpatients, and emergency patients eitherface-to-face, by telephone, internet, etc.
The list below is considered to be essential functions of thisposition and all employees within SCL Health are expected to meet the followingin their day-to-day work:
Demonstrates excellent customer service skills by providing apatient friendly and pleasant registration process to assure that patient andfamily needs are met in a timely manner.
Be available to work as scheduled and report to work ontime.
This position may walk up to 6 miles on any given shift andassociate is required to be available to work overtime if needed
Responsible for accurate registration of patient, communication ofpolicies, financial responsibilities and Patient Rights and Responsibilitiesaccording to departmental operating procedures.
Ensures compliance with Joint Commission and EMTALA regulationsand other regulatory agencies.
High School diploma/GED or equivalent
Strong computer knowledge
Demonstrated customer service and ability to handle pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Requires collecting co-pays and discussing past due accounts with patients at time of registration.
At least 1 year hospital/medical office or medical insurance experience to include medical terminology knowledge.
