Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Sr. Emergency Mgmt Specialist.
In this role, the successful candidate supports the Director in the development and implementation of plans and practices to achieve efficient and effective communication and restoration of operations during emergencies. Conducts assessments to identify gaps in business continuity, emergency and disaster recovery plans. Assist the Director in development and testing of infrastructure protection strategies and incident response exercises. Coordinates emergency management projects and other assigned duties as needed
Present / represent NYULMC at industry conferences.
Acts as alternate liaison to external agencies such as NYCDOHMH, NYC OEM,NYS DOH, and GNYHA.
Responsible for assisting newly acquired properties to integrate their BC program with NYULMCs program.
Responsible for mapping and the maintenance of all data from plans (enterprise wide) into database so it can be analyzed by management.
Identify opportunities for improving processes and procedures.
Pursue additional grants for emergency management related projects. As needed, represents the Director as needed at internal and external meetings.
Promote enterprise Business Continuity awareness throughout the company. This is done thru training programs, tabletops, promotional material on websites, etc.
Plans, implements, and evaluates exercises at NYULMC. Coordinates with exercise team in exercise planning and participation.
Coordinates testing of Business Contingency Plans with business unit managers. Develops and conducts tabletops for NYULMC departmentsEvaluates training and provides recommendations for improvement where applicable.
Assists the Director in developing and updating the Emergency Operations Plan and its components.
Works with the Director in developing and implementing a medical center-wide plan training, and exercise strategy as well as measuring BC preparedness.
Conducts assessments to identify gaps in the business continuity plan, and provides recommendation on improvement to Director.
Assist the Director in the development and implementation of business continuity and crisis management goals, objectives and priorities.
Works with business units to developt and coordinate prevention and emergency preparation plans, and maintain contingency plans following developed process.
Work on development of a comprehensive approach to Business Continuity, including Business Impact Analysis as well as BC template plan development.
Minimum Qualifications: To qualify you must have a Bachelor's Degree in health or in a related field a healthcare administration, emergency management, occupational health and safety, or another appropriate discipline or the equivalent combination of work experience. Minimum of 5+ years of professional level emergency management or related experience in field such as emergency management, public health, hospital administration, emergency services, or teaching. Excellent interpersonal skills. Strong written, verbal, and organizational skills. Project management experience. Able to interact with personnel at various levels. Able to work under tight and changing deadlines. Training experience. Ability to understand and interpret data. Computer literacy (MS Office)
Preferred Qualifications: Master's Degree in healthcare administration, emergency management, occupational health and safety, or another appropriate discipline or equivalent experience. Experience in working in Business Continuity. DRII / BCI certifications are highly desirable. Familiarity with Joint Commission, Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, and other regulatory agencies requirements
