The Business Support Systems Developer participates in the assessment and implementation of information technology and decision support solutions. This position will provide both technical and non-technical expertise in the development and maintenance of data management systems and processes, the development of business intelligence collection and reporting applications, and the development and support of web-based reports. This position will be responsible for assessing the information technology needs of end users, collaboratively developing strategies for meeting identified needs, and designing and implementing agreed upon solutions.
The Business Support Systems Developer will also work in collaboration with other Business and Management Systems (BAMS) team members to identify and secure the proper equipment, applications, systems, and access to data that address the data management and reporting needs of the supported offices. This position will implement and maintain systems in accordance with university, state, and federal laws, policies, and regulations.
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Business Support Systems, this position will provide highly responsive, effective and courteous services that advance and support the data management and reporting needs of the office. The Business Support Systems Developer must demonstrate a high degree of initiative and self-sufficiency, and the ability to work effectively one-on-one and as part of group projects and teams. The Business Support Systems Developer must be an effective communicator with users and other BAMS team members.
Bachelor's degree in Business Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
Experience in latest versions of Microsoft desktop operating systems and server software. Also, experience in the latest versions of Microsoft Office Suite.
Experience in relational database design, object oriented design concepts, database reporting software, and web design.
Experience analyzing, designing, and developing business and management information systems and tools for end users.
Effective communication skills.
Ability to convert user specifications into functional project requirements.
Ability to communicate complex concepts at a level appropriate to the intended audience.
Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
Ability to independently prioritize tasks and meet project deadlines.
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
Experience working with Microsoft Office SharePoint technologies.
Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration or related field.
Experience with MS SQL Server administration.
Software project management and project delivery experience.
