The Communications Project Coordinator is responsible for working collaboratively with the Consumer Horticulture and Master Gardener Specialist and the State Assistant Master Gardener Coordinator assisting with the creation, layout, design, and production of marketing and communications materials intended to support the EMG Program statewide and will interface with a mixture of Extension faculty, staff, volunteer leaders, and volunteers statewide. The person in this position will be responsible for managing the publication process for program-related publications and various marketing materials in support of the Extension Master Gardener program in Virginia. They also will be expected to work in multiple media formats including print, video, and emerging social media technologies.
Exhibited effective written and oral communications skills; Ability to organize and manage multiple communications projects each with unique timelines; Experience with computer applications and software, including PC and Mac operating systems and software including Photoshop CS5 and Illustrator CS5, InDesign CS5.5 (or higher), Adobe Premiere, Captivate and basic software such as Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Word; Familiarity with video production and editing.
B.S. degree in Communications or a closely related field, or substantial documented, relevant work experience; Knowledge and an understanding of the Extension Master Gardener program and its educational mission will be beneficial along with expertise in the Extension Master Gardener program; Experience with the Extension Master Gardener program is highly preferred.
