Carilion Clinic (CC) Department of Radiology is seeking a full-time mid-level provider (Physician Assistant [PA] or Nurse Practitioner [NP]) to join the Sections of Interventional Radiology and Neuro-Interventional Radiology. This growing practice includes joining two (2) other PAs, four (4) interventional radiologists and two (2) interventional neuroradiologists to help build a new inpatient interventional radiology consult service.Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital is an academic level 1 trauma center providing multispecialty full spectrum interventional radiology and interventional neuroradiology services.The three physician assistants will share responsibilities on a rotating basis covering three services.
Inpatient consult: This will be a newly established primary consult and follow-up service.Physician assistants will serve as a primary point of contact for consultation providing initial patient assessment, documentation, collegial communication with other services, procedural preparation, and inpatient follow-up.
Pain management: This is an established and busy practice that primarily includes performing spine and joint steroid injections, joint aspirations, and lumbar punctures in a newly built Siemens Artis-Zee multipurpose suite.
Venous access and drainage: This newly established physician assistant role will primarily include performing inpatient and outpatient venous access placement, paracentesis, thoracentesis, drainage catheter placement, and select biopsies.
We would like a motivated and collegial person to join and contribute to our team of physician assistants, physicians, nurses, and technologists.Prior experience is required however interventional radiology experience is not required.Procedural training will be provided by both physicians and physician assistants upon joining our team.
Minimum Qualifications Required:
Education: Graduate of an Accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program required.
Licensure,certification, and/or registration: Current Virginia State Licensed Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) and DEA license required, or must be eligible to obtain. BLS/ACLS/PALS certification required.
Other Minimum Qualifications: Eligible for prescriptive authority in accordance with State regulations and as authorized by the Virginia Boards of Medicine. Capable of meeting credentialing or job function requirements as needed based on the requirements of the practice and of managed care payors and insurers. Qualifies for malpractice insurance and is accepted by Carilion Clinic's malpractice insurance carrier. Able to work collaboratively with physicians and other health care providers. Demonstrates good written and oral communication skills. Computer literacy required for automated computer systems, including electronic medical records.
