Purpose of the Role:
The US-domiciled SPDR ETF Strategist is primarily responsible for helping develop strategy and research collateral that supports the marketing of US domiciled SPDR ETFs with specific investors type in a set of European regions. She/He is the Subject Matter Expert on these funds for a European audience working closely with US based strategists and product teams.
In addition to this Subject Matter Expert role the US-domiciled SPDR ETF Strategist works to develop timely research and strategy notes together with the other members of the EMEA team, enhancing visibility and service for ETF investors.
The US-domiciled SPDR ETF Strategist provides premier investment content for Exchange Traded Fund (ETF) investors around the globe. This includes working with senior staff and other strategists and developing tools and presentations that integrate SSgA's thought leadership from across different investment disciplines.
The strategist will contribute to the growth of the US-domiciled SPDR ETF business in EMEA through providing analytical support for the Distribution teams. This includes the creation and maintenance of collateral materials, such as sales presentations, short pieces, competitive analysis and answers to ad-hoc requests primarily focused on US domiciled ETFs.
In addition, the Strategist will author or co-author research papers on general market and ETF-related topics. As the specialist for US domiciled ETFs in EMEA, the Strategist will also assist distribution teams in meetings with clients across SPDR focus countries in EMEA, in particular UK, Netherlands and Switzerland.

Create and maintain a library of research and marketing content as well as investment related materials centred around US domiciled ETFs for use by SSgA's EMEA sales force
Act as a resource for EMEA sales force through providing analytical support, research ideas and general commentary on the global ETF market with a focus on US domiciled products
Work closely with the Head of Sales Strategy, Marketing, Product Development and Capital Markets to deliver high quality information to be used for research and requests
Develop tools to monitor market and competitive information to be used by sales teams
Responsible for animating the communication between SPDR US and EMEA Strategy Teams
Education & Experience:
At least under-graduate degree qualified individual with existing experience in or interest in developing a career in ETF strategy and research
Experience of ETF, sell-side, index or asset management industry preferred
Understanding of both fixed income and equity markets is a plus
CFA qualified or progress towards the qualification is desirable
Specific Technical Knowledge/Qualifications:
Strong financial market or index experience is a must
Strong knowledge of SPDR US domiciled ETFs is preferrable
Strong PowerPoint and Excel skills.
Knowledge of or willingness to learn financial systems such as FactSet, Morningstar Direct, and Bloomberg highly desirable
Fluency in the practical applications of statistics, finance and economics to investment management is required, in particular the ability to analyse and evaluate data and present findings.
