The Senior Category Manager – Resins is a part of the Strategic Sourcing and Procurement (SS&P) capability, responsible for more than$100mm in category spend across all Georgia-Pacific business units including Retail, Professional, Packaging and Building Products. This job focuses on sourcing the following categories: Polyethylene, Polystyrene, Polypropylene, PET and Colorants.
A Day In The Life Typically Includes:
• Develop and lead category management for resin materials, to include: * Leverage category performance metrics and KPIs * Build and maintain supplier relationships to ensure supply chain continuity and competitiveness * Seek knowledge and benchmark the markets, categories, processes, applications and technologies to develop a fact-based point of view on resin markets and the impact on end use markets (e.g. disposable cutlery) * Develop category strategies that address Georgia-Pacific priorities * Develop and communicate a clear understanding of strategic sourcing initiatives, along with the related implementation plan and associated value * Define specifications and collaboratively drive optimization to the businesses affected by the assigned categories * Conduct strategic sourcing projects that encompass: market assessments, RFPs, negotiations, supplier evaluations, supplier selection, supplier management, continuous improvement and innovation * Negotiate commercial terms and conditions, management of contracts * Ensure compliance excellence * Maintain/update resin pricing files and forecasts * Communicate and align with business, operations, quality, product stewardship and technical (R&D) * Demonstrate leadership in strategic sourcing best practices * Build and leverage GP, supplier and industry relationships * Interact with senior management and key stakeholders through formal and informal communications
What You Will Need:
• Bachelor’s degree • 5 years of strategic sourcing experience or Resins technical/operations experience. • Successful track record of managing and leading diverse teams/complex projects • Strong background of supporting projects with analytical work and assessments • Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint experience • Experienced negotiator • Experience with legal and commercial terms
What Will Put You Ahead?
• Master’s degree or higher • Experience with extrusion and/or injection molding • Recent strategic sourcing experience in resins / petrochemicals • Degree concentration in engineering, business or supply chain management • Developed and authored contractual terms and conditions • Working experience with large multi-business/divisional/cross-functional teams • Experience with manufacturing, maintenance or operations within an industrial or heavy manufacturing environment • Work experience within Consumer Products or Packaging Industry • Global experience in managing resins (Asia Pacific)
