This part-time, non-benefitted position will be responsible for providing compassionate care to and maintenance of the cat and dog colonies at the Massasoit Veterinary Technology Clinical Instruction Facility. The Kennel Attendant will work closely with the Veterinary Technology program coordinator, faculty and staff to ensure the health and welfare of the facility animals. The responsibilities of this position will include:
Walking dogs according to safety protocols and picking up after them;
Feeding and providing fresh water to dogs and cats;
Washing dishes and bowls;
Cleaning litter boxes;
Washing & disinfecting kennels and cages;
Washing, drying, & folding bedding;
Monitoring the health and comfort of the animals and reporting any health concerns to appropriate personnel
Bathing animals as needed;
General cleaning and upkeep of animal housing, food prep, and laundry areas;
Documentation of animal care and condition
Administration of oral or topical medications;
Care of post-surgical patients
Other tasks needed to ensure the health and safety of the animals
The successful candidate must have a high school degree or higher and experience caring for and handling animals. Training as a veterinary assistant or higher, or a degree in animal science, is preferred. Candidate must be fluent with computers and record keeping, and able to carry out the physical tasks associated with caring for animals.

Hourly Rate: $12.00 an hour
Hours: 4 - 18 hours per week. Shift hours will vary from 7:00 am - 9:00 am, 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm, and 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Shift coverage will primarily be evenings, weekends, and holidays.
