Purpose of Position: The Development Director, in partnership with the President/CEO and the Board of Directors, is responsible for executing the development vision and strategy to provide for current and future needs of CAPS. This includes leading the organization to integrate fundraising into strategy, finance and communications. The Director is responsible for leadership and direct supervision and support of the Development staff.
Key Overall Responsibilities:
Accountable for meeting the annual fundraising financial target goals, including the monthly/quarterly Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) associated with these goals.
Responsible for coordination and implementation of the donor development strategic plan.
Responsible for the leadership, supervision and coaching to Department staff.
Fund Development/Strategic Leadership
Establish and execute the overall fund development strategy, including all events and giving vehicles, tools for monitoring progress toward goals, and reporting mechanisms.
Provide structure and leadership for Board Fund Development Committee to oversee strategy and policy related to fund development.
Oversee staff support and leadership for Board Outreach Committee and Board Events Committee.
Consistently seek to build relationships with board and volunteers, community partners and donors.
Develop systems to encourage board involvement in annual fund solicitation, personal giving and donor recognition.
Develop healthy and productive relationships with all internal stakeholders and departments.
Create an effective and efficient system for sharing information, case successes and financial/outcome data of the development efforts.
Event Planning and Management
Support and provide direction for the planning, execution, reporting, and evaluation of special events.
Ensure effective staff support for the board’s Events Committee.
Maintain and monitor procedures and systems for appropriate care of donors.
Develop, maintain, and ensure compliance with proper protocols for acknowledgement and recognition of receipts.
Develop, implement, and evaluate strategies to ensure that the database is accurate and up to date.
As a member of the Leadership Team, oversee strategic plan and execution of Outreach and Advocacy efforts.
Ensure adequate staff support to Outreach Committee.
Ensure and oversee planning and reporting of outreach efforts.
Cultivate relationships both within the agency and externally to develop a solid and engaged volunteer bae.
Provide overall leadership including training, coaching and performance management to the Development Department staff.
Effectively demonstrate leadership among staff and board through active participation and leadership in both internal meetings as well as board and community meetings.
Reports to: CEO/President
4-year degree AND 3-5 years professional experience in donor development, event management, or marketing.
Passion for developing relationships
Strong team building and leadership skills.
Previous professional experience working in a non-profit environment.
Previous experience supervising a team and volunteers.
Specialized training in Philanthropy and Fundraising techniques.
Additional Salary Information: Salary dependent upon experience.
