The University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB), School of Medicine - Graduate Program in Life Sciences (GPILS) Molecular Medicine Program (MMED) is currently seeking an Academic Services Specialist. The Academic Services Specialist for the GPILS Molecular Medicine Program (MMED) reports to GPILS Program Administrator and the faculty Graduate Program Director. The position is responsible for managing day-to-day operations of the MMED program, coordinating daily activities, student functions, and data management, setting goals and creating strategies to achieve program objectives including Ph.D. recruitment and working collaboratively with MMED faculty and as a member of the GPILS staff.

Oversee daily and long-range program operations and assist students and faculty in the Graduate Program in Molecular Medicine.
Identify, troubleshoot and resolve challenges for faculty and students in the Molecular Medicine Program .
Develop and conduct formal and informal surveys of students to identify strengths and address needs within the program.
Work with the Program Director, Track Leaders, and faculty to provide strategic direction for the Molecular Medicine Program.
Maintain and nurture effective partnerships with various constituents across campus and with the multiple schools represented in the Molecular Medicine Program.
Manage all aspects of recruiting for the Program, including applicant review, database management, organizing interviews and travel, maintaining contact with prospective students.
Identify and assist in the resolution of barriers to student retention.
Manage and serve on various committees in the Molecular Medicine Program.
Plan and coordinate daily and long range plans/activities of the program, including annual Retreat, Professor's Rounds, Molecular Medicine Student Seminar Series including handling all financials supporting these events.
Assist with analysis/reporting and representing the program as needed.
Assist with grant reports, proposals and renewals – including statistical analysis for NIH Training Grant submissions.
Track the professional development and career advancement of MMED graduate alumni.
Update and maintain content for Molecular Medicine Program website.
Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field of study. Directly related experience to administration of a program.
Experience: Three (3) years of administration of a program, preferably in higher education, scientific discipline or healthcare setting.
