Reporting to the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs and Community Engagement, the Student Affairs Counselor performs significant functions necessary to accomplish the administrative needs for this area of The School of Pharmacy operations. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: on and off-campus program and event planning and implementation to promote an active campus life and foster positive inclusive communities within the School; new student recruitment and evaluation of credentials for admission; recognizing the needs of first-year students and providing interventions to support new student success; serving as liaison with the campus community outside of Student Affairs to improve the quality of students and student life; providing counsel for students and parents concerning student affairs; and computerized data management, budget maintenance and monitoring, and general central office administrative duties.
2.Prior experience in an academic environment working directly with students, faculty and administration including development and implementation of programs and events, and/or recruitment and admissions activities preferred.
3.Effective oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, and strong organizational skills.
4.Familiarity with basic computer applications for both PC and MAC and database management.
5.Familiarity with social media platforms.
6.Evening and weekend hours are required to accommodate the needs of students and provide services during peak periods.
7.Valid driver's license, accessibility to transportation, and ability to travel locally. Must have an acceptable driving record in accordance with the university's Motor Vehicle Policy. A MVC check will be required at the time of hire and thereafter as deemed appropriate by the university. Candidates for hire will be required to sign a waiver authorizing the MVC check.
8.Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check. Candidates for hire will be required to sign a waiver authorizing the background check and produce a Social Security Card.
