We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a FGP Coding Coordinator.
In this role, the successful candidate will be reporting to the Radiology Billing Manager, the FGP Coding Coordinator will be responsible for abstracting clinical information from a variety of medical records and assign appropriate ICD9/10 and/or CPT codes to patient records according to established procedures, review vendors coding for quality, serve as a resource to help resolve coding-related questions, reviewing and advising physicians and staff with regard to local and national coding and reimbursement policies and work coding denials for the department of Radiology.
Central Billing Office Billing Operations
A. Abstract clinical information from a variety of medical records and assign appropriate ICD9 and/or CPT codes to patient records according to established procedures. B. Review vendor coding for accuracy and quality. C. Assists AR representatives with coding support as needed. D. Reviews physician documented reports ; recommends suggestions, ideas and solutions to improve quality E. Collaborates with CBO management to implement change to physician reporting where necessary. F. Serves as a coding resource on projects. G. Participates in Quality Control measurement and follow-up. H. Resolves coding denials I. Reports to Management regularly and requests intervention where necessary.
A. Makes recommendations on system changes to improve the coding and coding QA portion of the revenue cycle. B. Participates in policy and procedure development discussions and assist in implementation of billing policies related to coding.
Responsible for maintain knowledge and advising management and staff of local and national coding and payment policies
Reviews resources including (but not limited to): CPT and ICD-9/10 manuals, payer policy and procedure manuals/updates, and CMS publications to ensure practices are compliant with current policies and procedures
Maintains current Certified Procedural Coder (CPC) certification
Adheres to general practice and FGP guidelines on compliance issues and patient confidentiality.
Performs other general administrative duties as needed to support professional billing operations.
Determines and establishes the explanation to complex coding issues and questions not covered by specific instructions or common practice
Maintains accurate, well-organized, up to date files for retrieval of needed documentation
Compiles statistical data as requested and reports data monthly to appropriate parties
Organizes, prioritizes and expedites own workflow and uses independent judgment
Uses standard office equipment, makes copies and collates as needed
Uses Personal Computer, Microsoft Office, Billing Systems, and calculators as needed
Attends meetings, prepares minutes and participates on committees as requested
Recognizes routine problems and recommends suggestions, ideas and solutions
Meets or exceeds internal standards for accuracy and timeliness in coding and coding quality assurance
May be asked to perform other varied functions.
To qualify you must have a Bachelors degree with a minimum of 3-5 years of relevant work experience or equivalent combination or training and relevant work experience. Current medical coding certification (CPC) required. Epic experience is preferred.
