The Supervisor will coordinate efforts among clinical personnel, case managers, administrative and support staff as needed. The Supervisor will also ensure comprehensive authorizations are obtained for all services provided. This position will be working onsite overnight from 11:00 pm - 7:00 am Monday - Friday and every third weekend at Long Island Jewish Forest Hills Hospital. Primary Responsibilities:Supervises the department's day-to-day operations as they relate to Hospital Billing, Emergency Department Registration, Admitting Registration, and office management, as applicableSupervises, hires, trains, disciplines and evaluates the performance of staff Ensures performance appraisals are completed in a timely manner Analyzes, recommends, implements and monitors approved work-flow changes Processes payroll maintaining employee records and work schedules while ensuring adequate coverage at all times Works with clinical personnel in obtaining authorizations and contacts insurance companies as needed Ensures compliance with DOH regulations as they pertain to completion and filing of death certificates and termination certificates Maintaining daily workflow in order to expedite processing while ensuring quality, accuracy, and customer service Monitors the inpatient and outpatient registrations for Quality Assurance Responds to concerns of patients, families, physicians and staff Recommends procedural and system changes to improve operational quality and efficiency Actively participates in process improvement projects Performs additional related duties, as required
Required Qualifications: High School Diploma / GED or higher level of education2 or more years progressively responsible related healthcare experience in patient registration and/or collectionsIntermediate or greater level of MS Office expertise in Word, Excel and OutlookExperience with 3rd party reimbursement and/or insurance backgroundPreferred Qualifications:Associate's or Bachelor's degree2 or more years of leadership experience in patient registration and/or collectionsExperience with InVision registration and billing system Experience working in a Union environment Soft Skills:Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and to exercise sound judgmentStrong interpersonal skills needed to facilitate encounters with patients, staff, nurses & physicians Careers with Optum.
