Our client, a growing South Florida-based privately held Commercial Real Estate Investment Company, is seeking an attorney to join their legal department which currently consists of seven attorneys, paralegals, assistants and support staff. This opening is to replace a retiring attorney who has been with our client for nearly 30 years.
Our client owns more than 700 retail, warehouse and single-tenant office buildings, a portfolio which is more than 30 million square feet and located across 45 states. Our client has conducted business for more than fifty years as a self-contained, single-office operation with their own real estate brokerage, development, and property management groups as well as in-house accounting and legal departments. Responsibilities: From Day 1, the ideal candidate must be able to independently handle sophisticated commercial leasing transactions, negotiate construction contracts and spearhead real estate acquisitions and property sales. Furthermore, responsibilities may include review of environmental matters as well as other issues that may be unrelated to standard transactional real estate such as tenant bankruptcies, etc.
Requirements: •10+ years of experience in the practice of transactional commercial real estate •In-house real estate legal department or law firm experience (or a combination) is anticipated •A demonstrable proficiency in handling sophisticated commercial retail leasing transactions, construction contract negotiation, real estate acquisitions, and property sales •In addition to the core real estate practice proficiencies stated above, experience handling corporate, bankruptcy and/or litigation matters will be helpful •Flexibility and a willingness to take on projects with new challenges as well as an ability to work both independently and as a team are a must.
