Advertised Summary Job Description: The Center for Career Education (CCE) helps undergraduate, graduate students and alumni develop the key competencies necessary to make informed decisions and take the necessary steps to achieve their career goals. The Center establishes connections and facilitates interaction among students, alumni, employers and organizations to generate opportunities that help students pursue their personal and professional objectives. CCE serves students in Columbia College, The Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science, the School of General Studies, the School of the Arts and the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences and collaborates with the Career Centers in the other schools at Columbia University and its affiliated institutions.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to,working in a team-based environment to support employers, students and alumni daily with high volume walk-in, email and phone traffic. Manage the daily administrative operations of the on-campus recruiting program. Balance multiple employer needs, resource requests from student and alumni populations and team-based projects. Support for CCE's job and internship database and manages key stakeholder relationships with students, alumni and employers within the Center's client relationship management system.
Operate as one of the first points of contact for the Center for Career Education. Manage employer, student, and alumni resource requests through phone, email and daily walk-ins. Provide customer service through extensive telephone and email communication. Maintain systems and processes for the on campus recruiting program which supports over 300 employers by scheduling rooms, forwarding resumes and coordinating interview schedules. Support new employer requests by providing instructions for posting positions. Review, screen and approve all new employer and job posting requests through the CCE managed job and internship database. Advise employers, students, alumni and CCE staff on the use of the job posting components of the CCE job and internship database.
Support data collection of all employer interactions including collecting and compiling Employer Evaluations and survey information from both daily on campus recruiting activities and employer events. Support Employer and Alumni Relations team in tracking and reporting employer engagement through the CCE job and internship database. Provide supervision to work-study students to support in this function.
Advise employers, students and alumni about on-campus recruiting and job offer policies and procedures through in person and on-line training. Prepare and deliver communication about programs to University representatives, employers and students. Provide marketing advice and assistance to all employers on best methods for advertising on and off campus positions and events.
Oversee employer hospitality and address problems for employers, students and alumni related to the recruiting program. Maintain interview rooms and conference rooms, prepare rooms for workshops, interviews and events related to the recruiting program. Insure adequate supplies and building services to provide an excellent employer experience. Provide employers with technical assistance with audio-visual equipment. Support data collection of all employer interactions including collecting and compiling Employer Evaluations and survey information from both daily on campus recruiting activities and employer events. Support Employer and Alumni Relations team in tracking and reporting employer engagement through the CCE job and internship database. Provide supervision to work-study students to support in this function. Insure communications with students and employers is maintained within the CCE Client Relationship Management system. Assist the Employer and Alumni Relations team with event planning as needed.
General Minimum Qualifications: High School diploma or its equivalent required. Minimum of three years related experience and excellent organizational skills
Additional Specific Minimum Qualifications: Must be detail oriented. Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills essential. Experience in database management (Access preferred), spreadsheet reporting, internet tools, and general office software (MS Office preferred),desktop publishing and word processing required. Experience with job/internship databases and Microsoft Dynamics CRM also preferred. Flexibility to work extended hours during on campus recruiting season (8 AM start and/or some evening hours) necessary.
