The Assistant Director of Financial Operations and Reporting serves as PCORI’s primary financial resource and contact for the organization’s financial operations, and reporting with responsibility for the oversight of the organization’s financial statements, accurate recording of all financial transactions in compliance with GAAP and other appropriate government regulations, timely tax filings, and timely financial reporting to internal and external stakeholders.
Direct the Managers of Accounting and Accounts Payable, A/R & supervise PR Administrator
Coach, and motivate staff to peak performance through developmental goals and objectives
Determine and monitor workloads to ensure work is properly distributed and being completed in the most efficient and effective manner and timely
Oversee all Accounting functions, Financial Reporting and all Audits and Reviews
Determine appropriateness and accuracy of all financial transactions in in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Oversee preparation of monthly general ledger closing process, and the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and management reports
Implement internal controls and processes while maintaining segregation of duties
Ensure compliance with corporate organizational registrations and tax filings: 941’s, & 1099’s
Monitor performance indicators, highlighting trends and analyzing causes of variances
Implement and work with business intelligence tools to provide dashboard reporting metrics
Collect, and prepare various performance indicators by measuring gaps, analyzing data to achieve desired vision, goals and performance outcomes
Provide regular and ad hoc reports, analytics and audit in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Oversee the planning and execution the of all audits and reviews of the organization
Collaborate with Director of Finance, and Finance Assistant Directors to ensure accurate and timely
Research contract compliance
Development, update and execution of Policies and Procedure
Manage key Finance Department relationships
Manage external Finance department support service vendors and banking relationships
Collaborate with other departments to ensure their needs and the organization’s needs are met promoting a culture of high performance quality customer service
Oversee Finance department training to external users, continuous open communications and support for cross functional teams.
Oversee new hire Finance Orientation and Finance onboarding and off boarding procedures
Key areas of oversight include accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, financial reporting, and payroll
Work and collaborate with other Finance and functional offices in the development and implementation of PCORI’s financial systems, data quality, financial compliance, and external and internal reporting requirements

Intacct or automated accounting systems experience desirable

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA and/or MBA highly preferred
10+ years’ experience as Assistant Controller or Controller in a similar nonprofit organization
Extensive GAAP knowledge required
Experience working with government funded grants and contracts, both pre-award and post-award, as well as a comprehensive understanding of indirect costs and allocation of costs. Demonstrated knowledge in administering federal contracts and OMB Super Circular.
Knowledge in nonprofit best practices in fiscal operations and administering U.S. government funds
Demonstrated ability to roll-up sleeves and work with team members in a hands-on management capacity required
Experience working in corporate accounting environment preferred
