Advertised Summary Job Description: Reporting to the Executive Director of Alumni Relations, the Senior Associate Director, Alumni Relations assumes a lead role in overseeing the planning, creation, and execution of alumni-targeted communications, website updates, marketing/promotional materials, and other digital initiatives (including social media) for the Alumni Relations team. S/he works as part of the Alumni Relations team and partners closely with cross-functional teams across Columbia Business School and the University in leveraging content and insights into compelling outreach strategies to improve alumni engagement with the School. S/he supervises the Assistant Director, providing oversight in the development and execution of Alumni Relations' social media strategies and the maintenance of frontline alumni customer service practices/protocols. S/he also assists the Executive Director with miscellaneous communication requests/projects and provides additional support, as needed, for signature events. This individual will be a strong and motivated team member, invested in raising the bar for Alumni Relations at Columbia Business School. This individual will meet core and partnership values of teamwork, integrity, accountability, and respect. Will work to strengthen communication both within the Alumni Relations team and with other teams in External Relations, the Business School and the University at large.
1.Oversee handling of day-to-day strategic engagement troubleshooting/requests, developing and implementing marketing/communications plans and projects for new and existing initiatives as well as strategic campaigns, creating and distributing miscellaneous digital and print collateral requests (from inception to final product) for Alumni Relations and External Relations teams, and tracking inventory of print collateral and publications as well as maintaining archives for digital communications and collateral.
2.Develop and manage alumni website content and user experience (UX) by executing updates to gsb.columbia.edu/alumni webpages and other internal websites; identifying and developing CRM related plans and projects; developing and implementing strategies for leveraging alumni website and other digital platforms as valuable alumni marketing and engagement tools.
3.Supervise development and implementation of social media strategy for the Alumni Relations department; work with Assistant Director and colleagues throughout the School on diverse audience social media outreach plans through LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and other social media platforms.
4.Partner with ITG and key stakeholders in the implementation and management of new or existing alumni-oriented web-based applications, tools, internal databases, and CMS platforms.
5.Maintain the alumni communications calendar, provide editorial review of alumni-targeted communications, including bi-weekly event roundups.
6.Work closely with the events team on the design of the Reunion Weekend, Pan-Asian and Pan-European Forum branding. Steward the development and production of in-house event collateral materials. Provide marketing and technical support for Reunion Weekend and other New York events, and staff events as needed.
7.Produce targeted print and online communications to encourage alumni to update their records, volunteer, and engage with the alumni network. Advise colleagues on communication guidelines for targeted email and print communications.
8.Develop surveys, reports, and analysis, as needed, pertaining to alumni engagement.
9.Oversee general customer service operations, including developing template responses to common questions and supervising the Assistant Director in the effective hiring and management of student workers.
10.Perform related duties and special projects as needed and assigned.
General Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required. Five years related experience required, preferably in Alumni Relations, or another loyalty marketing driven communications and customer service field.
Additional Specific Minimum Qualifications: Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills necessary, as well as organizational, design, and data management expertise. Proven proficiency with Microsoft Office suite programs (Access, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe Creative Suite programs, HTML, and CSS. Ability to prioritize work under deadline pressure and to deal effectively with frequent changes and last minute problems. Should be poised, thoughtful and graceful under pressure and be a good team player. Must be available to work evenings and some weekends.
