Oversees and manages the development, implementation, coordination and assessment of programs and services to strengthen and sustain an inclusive campus community that supports and welcomes people of all sexual orientations, gender identities and expressions. Performs other duties as assigned.
Educational, Social, and Supportive Programming: Develops, implements, markets and assesses programs designed to increase campus awareness, support and presence of the LBGTQ community and allies. Oversees Ally Training, National Coming Out Week, Trans* Awareness Week, Rainbow Thanksgiving, Pride Week (which includes a large-scale annual Drag Show), Lavender Graduation and other campus programs. Develops partnerships with students, university departments and community organizations to facilitate programming. 40% - Essential
Advising, Support and Advocacy: Serves as the staff adviser for the Clemson University Sexuality and Gender Alliance. Provides leadership development for student officers and members. Mentors and facilitates the growth and establishment of additional LGBTQ campus-based organizations. Provides support and advocacy as needed for members of the LGBTQ community and allies, including in situations of crisis. Functions as a resource for all members of the campus community regarding ways to increase education and understanding surrounding the LGBTQ community and allyship. Monitors, updates and reviews the Campus Pride Index and uses results to advocate, make recommendations and lead efforts for building a more inclusive community. 35% - Essential
Space Management: Provides a comfortable, safe, accessible resource center for anyone interested in a place to talk, listen or find support and materials around LGBTQ issues. Continually assesses and improves the space based on community needs. Secures and maintains appropriate educational/information resources to be available in the space. 10% - Essential
Collaboration and Outreach: Collaborates with Gantt Multicultural Center and other university and community colleagues to create an integrated approach to the delivery of programs and services. Serves as a contributing member of the Gantt Multicultural Center, meeting regularly with supervisor, attending staff meetings, participating in departmental committees, and developing and supporting internal collaborations. Serves on university committees and task forces as appropriate, including the LGBTQ Commission. 10% - Essential
Fiscal Management: Monitors the LGBTQ Community Development budget, ensuring that programs and services stay within the allocations and that expenditures are consistent with University policies and procedures. 5% - Essential
A bachelor's degree and experience in student services programs.
