Global Programs is specifically committed to providing international students the highest level of expertise in advising, immigration services, intercultural training and sponsored programs support. The Vice President’s Office for the Commonwealth Campuses and the Global Programs office have launched a new initiative to support the international student community at the Penn State campuses across the Commonwealth. Each position will be allocated a regional area of a particular campus or campuses. This allocation will also include specific responsibilities of support.
Global Education Coordinator - Northwest Region - Erie. This position is located at the Erie campus with frequent travel to University for trainings and meetings required. As the locus for one of the University's primary strategic goals, the Office of Global Programs (OGP) is an area of growth and opportunity for those seeking a career in the field of international education. Reporting to the Director of Global Operations and Intercultural Learning and to the Erie campus, the coordinator will plan, develop, and conduct three international student orientation programs annually and is responsible for hiring and training orientation leaders. The position will oversee and implement co-curricular programming for international undergraduate students at the Erie campus. The Coordinator will also work closely with the Sponsored Relations Office and serve as the primary contact in the Northwest region for sponsor related work and support of international sponsored students at assigned campus.
The position requires regular communication with community members, students, faculty, staff, and departments within the Penn State community to help create a support network to maximize international students' volunteer and community service opportunities. This job will be filled as a level 3, or level 4, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience.

Typically requires a Master's degree or higher in an education or social science related discipline or higher plus one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 3. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. The successful candidate will have excellent communication, organizational, and computer skills in addition to proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and experience working with database software. Previous experience working with undergraduate international students and developing co-curricular programming is preferred. Some administrative or project management experience is highly desirable. A candidate with education abroad, working and/or living abroad is also preferred and the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures is a plus.
