Description: The Equipment Distribution Center (EDC) services the students, faculty, and staff of Emerson College by vending media production equipment and support services for curricular use. The mission of the EDC is to ensure that its customers have timely access to production equipment in good working order and to provide high-quality technical and operational services in support of their curricular projects. The primary responsibilities of the Evening Operations Supervisor are to oversee the evening vending of production equipment and ensure that kits are complete and in good working order. The Evening Operations Supervisor is an expert operational resource for customers during checkouts, supporting technical questions and concerns, addressing safety issues, and is responsible for overseeing student staff during vending operations. The Evening Operations Supervisor shares responsibility for the training and supervision of up to 75 student employees.

Required Knowledge: BA/BS degree required.Knowledge and expertise with various types of audio, film, and video equipment. Focus includes but is not limited to: film cameras, DSLRs, digital cinema cameras, ENG/EFP cameras, and lighting and grip equipment. Experience at an educational or commercial equipment rental, vending, or repair facility. Ability to communicate in a clear manner that is appropriate to the audience.
Preferred/Desirable Knowledge: WebCheckout or similar online equipment scheduling and ticketing software, basic equipment repair, record of customer service excellence. Familiarity with Windows computers, Microsoft Office and G Suite.
Required Prior Work Experience: Work experience in an educational or commercial equipment rental, vending, or repair facility.

Supervision includes the scheduling of equipment, ensuring all components are present and in good working order, and generation of repair tickets. Additionally, the Evening Operations Supervisor performs equipment checkouts from start to finish with student customers, including retrieval of equipment from storage area and walk through of equipment setup and operation. Duties involve the frequent moving and lifting of heavy objects.
Create reservations for faculty, staff, and students. Oversee all afternoon and evening classroom equipment deliveries and pickups. Ensure orders are complete and checked in in a timely manner. At times the Evening Operations Supervisor will perform classroom equipment checkouts from start to finish, including retrieval of equipment from storage area and delivery to multiple locations on campus. Duties involve the frequent moving and lifting of heavy objects.
Provide evening supervision of all student employees of the EDC. Supervision to include staff orientation and student employee training.
Work in cooperation with Evening Operations Manager, EDC to coordinate advanced level reservations of equipment.
Answer questions or address basic technical issues from students or faculty when checking out or using equipment.
Stays current with technology trends of media production equipment by attending local vendor presentations and demonstrations, industry conference wrap-ups, on-site vendor demonstrations and reading industry literature.
Provide equipment-related instruction and support to faculty, staff and students as needed.
Notify students of and collect fines for lost, damaged or stolen equipment. Update vending database to reflect these transactions.
Conduct student Equipment and Facilities Use Contract sessions.
