POSITION DETAILSThe Lehman College campus is located in Bronx, New York.Under the general direction of the Director of Student Disability Services, the Associate Director of Student Disability Services supports the director in all aspects of planning, policy development and service delivery for students with disabilities at Lehman College. The Associate Director will assume the responsibilities of the Director when he/she is not available. This is a dynamic office with increasing enrollments, currently serving over 400 students annually.The Associate Director will provide oversight for day-to-day operation of the Student Disability Auxiliary Services Office, an accessible satellite office that provides comprehensive services.The Associate Director also provides leadership for the best practice CUNY LEADS program (focusing on student academic success, leading to graduation and employment). S/he Associate Director will recruit students, coordinate services within the college and outside agencies, foster the development of internships and mentoring opportunities and serve as liaison to the specialized federal Workforce Recruitment program, Emerging Leaders Program, and Disability Mentoring Day. The Associate Director will utilize CUNY's ETO database, and collaborate with other LEADS professionals on special initiatives.Additional duties include: * Recruit, train and supervise the Peer Educators, CUNY CAP, mentors and other part time staff (readers, scribes, and note takers). We hire approximately 25 part-timers annually. * Assists with budget development and writing grant proposals. * Addresses student concerns and resolves or refers issues requiring follow up with campus offices and individual faculty or departments. * Serves as advisor to the student club serving students with disabilities and the Student Advisory Board. * Assists in divisional programs and special events including, Take Back the Night, CUNY Service Corps, Goldstein Scholarship, Title IX, and Lehman's Heroes. * Collaborates with the Bursar and Financial Aid office on resolving issues around third party billing including NYS agencies and in the administration of the annual Goldstein scholarship * Participates in the planning, coordination and implementation of the newly developed PEP project; an academic coaching collaboration with ACE (Academic Center for Excellence).QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's degree and six years' related experience required. Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Disability Studies or related field preferred. Experience working in academic, career advisement or job placement functions with students with disabilities preferred. Must have excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills. Should demonstrate proficiency in computer and database skills.
