The Sociology Department in the College of Humanities and Sciences at Virginia Commonwealth University is seeking applications for one tenure track faculty position to begin August 2018. We are seeking candidates specializing in LatinX communities in the United States and quantitative methods. Preferred secondary specializations include social psychology, migration, health, globalization and/or urban sociology.
Teaching responsibilities will include courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels in their area of specialization, along with providing support to the program's core curriculum and general education requirements. Candidates with the interest and ability to teach in our online Master's program focused on Digital Sociology will be preferred.
Required qualifications include a PhD in Sociology in hand by August 2018 and a record of or demonstrable potential for excellence in scholarship. Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU is required.
Native- or near native proficiency in Spanish preferred as is potential for engaging students in research experiences in migrant communities both locally and abroad.
