This Research Assistant position will be heavily involved in the recruitment, screening, and scheduling of study participants for an NIH-funded research study of children and adolescents. The incumbent will also assist with study visits, including neuropsychological and behavioral assessment and the acquisition and basic processing of structural and functional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) data. Basic image processing and analyses will also be required. He/she will also assist with all administrative-related tasks for the project, including database management, data entry, and other general office duties in support of the goals of the study. The successful applicants will be self-starters, possessing a strong work ethic and the ability to operate independently, as well as in a team environment. Effectiveness in organizing tasks and setting priorities, multi-tasking, working efficiently with minimum oversight, interacting constructively with faculty and staff, and the ability to be adaptable, creative, and a quick learner are all necessary. Evening and weekend availability will be required.
Bachelors degree in behavioral science field OR associates degree and 2 years of relevant experience.
Sufficient computer knowledge to interface with a variety of database, statistical, and imaging task and processing software, such as Excel, SPSS, Access, Linux, AFNI, FSL, Presentation, and E-Prime.
Good communication and interpersonal skills are extremely important, as the incumbent will be interacting regularly with children, adolescents and families.
Preference will be given to applicants with a degree in the behavioral science field.
Previous experience working with children/families.
