MANAGEMENT/SUPERVISION: Set and monitor individual and team goals. Plan, organize, assign, review and evaluate work of assigned staff in all aspects related to charge capture and other functions within areas of responsibility. Facilitate team engagement regarding annual Epic Upgrades. Perform routine audits of staff performance and provide recommendations for improvement as necessary. Ensure staff have adequate information and training to perform assigned tasks and continuously coach existing staff to ensure optimal performance. Personal management, mentor, discipline and termination when necessary. Maintain current team policies and procedures, position descriptions and performance appraisals. Complete annual reviews on time.
DEPARTMENT SUPPORT: Maintain current understanding of department charge capture workflows. Routinely monitor department WQ volumes to ensure timely processing of charges. Provide feedback to department administrators related to charge posting variances, late charges and missed revenue opportunities. Establish mitigation plans or corrective action plans as necessary. Communicate new revenue cycle policies, procedures and annual code updates and changes to team and department leadership. Work collaboratively with billing, systems and coding teams to ensure optimal revenue cycle workflows.
PERFORMANCE METRICS: Routinely monitor OHSU Gross Patient Revenue, Revenue and Usage, DNBs, Late Charges, Void and Adjustment Reports. Achieve standard revenue cycle benchmark metrics or create action plans that demonstrate a path to achieve results. Syntehsize qualitative and quantitative information and identify trends to keep cash flow on course. Monitor unbilled reports and work with departments to resolve issues in a timely manner so not to delay billing functions. Maintain open communication with leadership regarding performance, deficiencies, potential risks and course of action.
REVENUE INTEGRITY: Maintains a working knowledge of: applicable National, State and local laws and regulations, OHSUs Compliance Program, OHSU & PBS goals and objectives and policies and procedures. Work collaboratively with Revenue Cycle Team business partners including (but not limited to): Patient Business Services Operations, Hospital Financial Services, Compliance, Patient Access and Managed Care Contrating. Facilitate the Revenue Integrity Meeting and ensure proper followup completed timely and accurately. Actively participate in meetings, seminars and workshops. Complete annual audit of OHSU Charge Master and ensure proper communication delivered to OHSU department regarding annual code updates and changes.
Participate in Revenue Cycle projects as directed by Director of Revenue Integrity
B.S./BA or equivalent education and experience.
5 years of recent hospital billing and/or direct hospital cash collection/control experience.
3 years of recent progressive supervisory experience to include recruitment, termination, counsel and discipline of personnel.
Customer Service experience; must possess excellent interpersonal/listening skills to interact effectively with individuals of all backgrounds, experience and educational levels.
Recent (within 2 years of hire) Microsoft Office Word & Excel experience in Windows environment.

Familiarity with medical terminology
Healthcare related accounting experience; at least 3 years (within 6 months of hire date) of direct supervision in hospital and/or finance, with demonstrated knowledge of all phases of patent accounting, operations, issues, challenges and performance metrics.
Record of effective collaboration, to ensure success in achieving hospital or system performance targets.
Verifiable record of accomplishment in meeting performance hurdles for improving cash collections as well as hitting targets for net days in accounts receivable.
Track record for successfully making, and effectively implementing tough decisions.

Advance experience in the use of computer hardware and software, including the Microsoft Office Suite of products with document production using WORD and spreadsheet compilation in EXCEL.

Ability to efficiently and effectively use Oracle AR database software.
