Summary Registered Nurse (RN)
Provides direct patient care using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies, values, and mission of the organization.
This RN will lead the team in a very busy clinic with the following primary job duties and responsibilities:
1.Performing both venipuncture and central line lab draws.
2.Oversight of clinic lab schedule and lab orders.
3.Helping to coordinate study specific lab draws and timing them with the research team.
4.Performing initial triage on patients and document accordingly.
5.Involved in direct patient care.
6.Demonstrate competence in sterile technique and central line access.
Plans, implements, and evaluates patient care plans based on patient assessment to optimize outcomes and maximize available resources.
Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate. Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
Effectively delegates patient care to ancillary personnel. May precept student nurses and new hires.
Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast paced environment, and take appropriate action. Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Graduate of an accredited Registered/Professional Nursing program if less than 3 years experience. Effective 4/1/2014, a BSN is required for those accepting a registered nurse position or it must be attained within three years.The new hire must actively pursue and enroll in a BSN program within 6 months of their start date.
A minimum of 6 months relevant nursing experience.
Licensed to practice nursing in the State of Colorado
Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card in-hand before start date, and current AHA BLS must be good through sixty days of hire.
ONS chemotherapy/biotherapy certification within 3 months of hire.
At least one year of oncology experience
At least one year of med-surg or critical care experience
Able to work full-time, day shift, 4 days/week (36 hours/week)
