Our client is looking for a Business Analyst who will be responsible for supporting various initiatives related to the group's proprietary portfolio risk and performance attribution application. This application provides the data and reports that the investment desk utilizes to manage each portfolio's suite of risk characteristics and explain its performance. The role liaises with the technology team and business stakeholders in supporting project implementation, documenting/validating system requirements, and recommending solutions that will enable the business to achieve their goals. The role leads and/or participates in technology projects, infrastructure upgrades, process Improvements, and strategic business initiatives. The size and scope of projects may vary from small, tactical requests to large, strategic implementations. The team is also responsible for providing general production support.
Collaborate with business groups to define solutions to business needs. This includes eliciting, analyzing and documenting business requirements, identifying multiple approaches, making recommendations, and facilitating requirement walk-through sessions.
Analyze and document the systems and report requirements which includes technical specifications, pseudo code, database table design, and business process flows to validate the system solution will meet the business need.
Conduct project related tests which include 1) developing detailed test plans including test cases and expected results; 2) conducting the tests; and 3) evaluating and documenting results.
Develop subject matter expertise within the portfolio performance, attribution, and risk analytics platforms.
Provide on-going support of production applications to perform root cause analysis and recommend corrective action while leading the resolution efforts.
Take deep analytical dives on data to conceptualize, synthesize, and critically evaluate gathered information, ultimately communicating findings and recommendations to others.
Undergraduate (B.S.) degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or Information Systems is preferred
Minimum of 8+ years experience in the fixed income industry is required
Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation is a plus
In-depth understanding of fixed income instruments and their characteristics including derivatives such as futures, options, and the various flavors of swaps
Practical experience with one or more skill sets: systems support, business analysis, quality assurance testing, project management, or other analytical experience in a complex business/systems environment
Proven ability to solve problems based on analyzing complex data and linking prior experience and knowledge gained on the job to the problem at hand
Ability to work independently is critical, as is the ability to work effectively in a diverse team environment and actively participate in assessing the impact of requested changes on existing processes
Strong communication and interpersonal skills and comfortable working with all levels of an organization's technology and business staff
Must be self-motivated, resourceful, and possess strong organizational, task management, and prioritization skills
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Visio and PowerPoint
Experience writing SQL queries to access relational databases is required
Experience working with JIRA and Confluence is a plus
Hands-on experience with any investment / trading system, or performance attribution system is a plus
