: The Electromagnetic Theory Department is seeking an Computer Scientist with a background in electromagnetic analysis and simulations\. On any given day, you may be called on to: + Work on a broad variety of projects associated with Sandia Laboratories Nuclear Weapons Science and Technology programs including nuclear\-weapon analysis, Advanced Strategic Computing, and research and development;+ Team with other developers, analysts, and experimentalists;+ Develop expertise in different areas of electromagnetics and work well in team environments\. Required: + Bachelor's degree in a relevant STEM discipline;+ PhD in electrical engineering, physics or closely\-related discipline, with a specialization in electromagnetic theory or simulation;+ Strong mathematical and simulation background with good knowledge and experience in electromagnetic analysis;+ Publications or presentations demonstrating experience with developing or using numerical simulations to better understand electromagnetic phenomenon;+ Experience in data analysis and post\-processing;+ Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q\-level security clearance\. Desired: + Experience is desired in both theoretical analysis and computational simulation using commercial or customized software;+ Experience in both hardening simulation tools \(via software quality assurance, verification, and validation\), as well as in performing electromagnetic simulations and analysis;+ Experience with circuit simulations and analysis;+ Experience with High Performance Computing architectures and execution;+ Experience programming in scripting \(shell, python, etc\.\), FORTRAN or C\+\+;+ Experience with or willingness to learn CAD modeling and mesh generation;+ Demonstrated ability to work with others and contribute to a team effort;+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills;+ Willingness to develop expertise in different areas electromagnetics;+ Willingness to be flexible in job assignments\. Department Description: Department 1352 is a multidisciplinary research group that conducts theory and simulation to support the Department of Energy's NNSA Defense Programs\. The primary areas of research include analytic theory and modeling in linear and non\-linear electromagnetics, plasma physics and high voltage breakdown\.
