The Research Associate(s) position is responsible for serving as core research team member of the Brown Evidence-based Practice Center (EPC) funded by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) and on similar, non-EPC, applied research project teams. Primary responsibilities include participating in ongoing EPC/other projects including but not limited to: comparative effectiveness reviews, technology assessments, horizon scans, evidence reports, topic refinement and topic development activities, and future research needs documents. Research activities include but are not limited to: literature screening, data abstraction, research protocol development, strength of evidence, risk of bias, synthesis and analysis, and writing. The incumbent be responsible for engaging in other various methodological projects of the Center, including a number of software development projects related to systematic reviews and meta-analyses. This position may also be responsible for disseminating advances and findings via manuscripts and conference presentations.
The incumbent(s) will:
Work closely with Project Leads to carry out day-to-day research activities related to EPC Task Orders
Be responsible for designing research protocols, conducting empirical research, performing analyses in conductedresearch
Be responsible for leading (or contributing to) the preparation of conference presentations, academic manuscripts, technical reports, and grant proposals, as required.
The position will require successful collaboration with center staff, clinical collaborators, and external experts and stakeholders. Incumbents are required to possess strong quantitative skills, demonstrated ability to work in research teams, and a solid public health background (or other closely related field). Advanced training in clinical research, epidemiology, biostatistics, or statistics is highly desirable. Prior experience with AHRQs Effective Healthcare EPC program or with the Cochrane Collaboration is also highly desirable.
MPH/MS or equivalent professional experience (5 years minimum demonstrated experience in responsibilities and supporting actions above)
A minimum of 2 years prior experience in evidence-based medicine
Training or expertise in systematic reviews and meta-analyses
Documented excellent writing, presentation and communication skills
Documented experience in proposal writing in an academic environment
Ability to multitask and prioritize competing demands
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Preferred: knowledge of R or Stata
Preferred: Experience with AHRQâ??s Effective Healthcare EPC program and/or Cochrane Collaboration is highly desirable
