Responsiblefor transcribing new orders on medical records for providing administrativesupport to the nursing team. Assists licensed nursing staff in delegated dutieswithin scope of education/training.
· Coordination ofServices: Schedules, prepares appropriate paperwork, and arrangestransportation as needed for medical appointments, lab tests, x-ray and othermedical services. Updates families regarding scheduled medical services.Prepares charts and required paperwork for physician rounds. Communicates newphysician orders to pharmacy and other suppliers. Completes transportationnotices for appointments.
Electronic Medical Record Maintenance: Transcribes physician orders into ESC. Updates nurses on units of new medication orders and changes. Maintains accurate physician orders within the computer system. For new admissions, ensures that new orders are entered. Keeps access code for computer confidential at all times. Does not share access code with others and does not use other's access codes.
Administrative Support: Ensures adequate office supplies on nursing unit. Provides work processing, printing, and filing. Maintains appointment and lab books.
Safety: Complies with safety policies/procedures to ensure safe practices for residents, staff, self and others. Uses good body mechanics while on duty. Identifies wandering residents and responds to door alarms. Reports safety incidents, concerns, or hazards to supervisor or other responsible parties as indicated.
Infection Control: Complies with infection control standards during tour of duty including hand hygiene, appropriate use of personal protective equipment, and isolation precautions. Participates in mandatory vaccination programs. Does not work when contagious.
Customer Service: Answers incoming phone calls in a courteous manner using AEPC scripting. Directs caller to appropriate individual. Transfers calls to appropriate extensions. Avoids "toxic" phrases while on duty. Takes action to correct customer service issue immediately. Understands how to use a "Fix It Now" and uses when indicated.
Privacy/Confidentiality: Maintains privacy and confidentiality for residents at all times including resident information in any format: paper, electronic, video, photographic, and conversation.
Assist with Aggues physicians as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
High School diploma or equivalent required
Computer data entry required
Must be able to perform basic math
Medical terminology is desirable
Previous administrative experience, especially in a health care setting, is preferred
