Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time, Classified, IFPTE position, and hours of work and days are determined by the supervisor. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. This is a 40 hour workweek position.

Undergraduate students choose to concentrate their studies in one of five schools with more than 539 course offerings and 36 academic programs. Cleans and maintains, offices, furniture, buildings, and grounds. Primarily responsible for cleanliness, safety, and appearance of all College buildings. Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs. for 200 feet. Must be able to operate heavy-duty floor equipment including auto-scrubbers, and various types of vacuum cleaners (both wet and dry). Includes removal of garbage and debris from buildings. May include use of machinery and equipment, bending and reaching, and outdoor work in inclement weather. Performs related work as required.
OFFICE CLEANING - Inspects and determines cleaning and maintenance work to be done and materials needed for such work. Vacuums, washes, cleans, and waxes floors, washes, windows and woodwork, dusts, waxes, and polishes, desks, tables, chairs, office equipment, and other furniture. Collects and disposes of waste papers and refuse, empties garbage cans and replace liners daily. Dusts and cleans blinds.
SET - UPS - Performs completion of set ups of rooms for various events and the successful "break down" of the set ups after the event has ended. Manually transports tables, chairs, podiums, lecterns, flipcharts, staging, skirting, etc. All equipment must be clean and be in an orderly fashion according to the set-up instructions.
RESTROOM CLEANING - Clean and sanitize all fixtures, toilets, sinks, and urinals, and supply all dispensers with tissues, hand towels, and soap daily.
WINDOW AND MIRROR CLEANING - It is to be done daily or when needed.
FLOOR CARE - Sweep, vacuum, wash, clean and wax all floors daily. Shampoo carpets and stripping VCT flooring when needed.
WORK ORDERS - To be assigned by the supervisor when needed.
RESPOND TO ALL DEPARTMENTS EMERGENCIES - This assignment will be carried out as directed by supervisor.
REPORT ANY DAMAGES, CLOGS, LEAKS, LIGHT OUTAGES OR MALFUNCTIONS TO YOUR SUPERVISOR DAILY - Report to supervisor so that work orders can be produced.
WORKING IN ANOTHER LOCATION - There will be times when you will be assigned to work in another location as required by the operational needs of the Housekeeping Department.
SNOW REMOVAL - Assist in snow removal from walkways and steps throughout campus.
COLLECT GARBAGE AND RECYCLING CANS - Empty all garbage cans and recycling cans daily or when needed.
One (1) year of experience in the inspection, cleaning, and maintenance of furniture, fixtures, offices, and buildings.
TRAINING - Required to participate in all housekeeping related training sessions as assigned by your supervisor
LICENSE - Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform essential duties of the position.
