Memorial Healthcare System is looking for a Genetic Counselor Program Manager who will facilitate the further growth and development of our cancer genetics program focused on evidence based clinical care, innovative research, and community engagement. In addition, they will provide genetic counseling to patients with a medical or family history of cancer and/or genetic disease, and coordinate program services.
Collects, reviews, and interprets family/medical histories, medical records, test results, and other relevant/necessary information. Coordinates testing and communicates results to referring healthcare providers.
Develops genetic counseling plans, including risk assessment, referrals, education, life planning options, and treating options. Provides counseling and education to patients and their families. Identifies and provides referrals for testing, treatment, support, and advocacy.
Researches, maintains and applies knowledge of trends and developments in genetic disease research, testing and treatment, including attending clinical conferences and communicating scientific advances and expertise in genetic counseling and cancer risk assessment research through presentations and/or publications.
Manages, plans and monitors staffing relations, including hiring, orienting evaluating, disciplinary actions, and continuing education initiatives enforcing policies and procedures.
Master’s in Genetic Counseling.
Certified as a Genetic Counselor (CGC) by the American Board of Medical Genetics (ABMG) or the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC).
Five (5) years of experience providing cancer genetic counseling to individuals and families at risk for hereditary cancer.
