Two years of experience in a small or large animal practice plus an Associate's degree in Veterinary Technology or Animal Science. Basic Computer Skills are a must. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. with or without accommodation. Ability to operate a hoist, hydraulic table, band saw and other potentially hazardous power equipment. Reasoning and organizational skills are required. Position carries a large degree of responsibility, requiring independence, sound judgment and effective performance during emergencies.
Bachelor's Degree preferred. Prior work experience following directions and prioritizing the workload is necessary. Candidate should have a good understanding of medical terminology, IACUC requirements and have familiarity with animal anatomy. Knowledge of lab safety requirements including the use of chemicals. Flexibility with the work schedule is needed occasionally.
Special Work Schedule Requirements:
Exposure to embalming solutions, potassium hydroxide and acetone. Will use various cleaning chemicals used to wash, disinfect and remove grease. May have occasional hours beyond 4:00pm.
