Required Application Materials Applicants should provide: (1) a cover letter, (2) a vita summarizing education, publication record, service, and professional experience, (3) a statement of research interests, (4) copies of scholarly working papers or publications, (5) a teaching portfolio including syllabi of courses taught and teaching evaluations, and (6) contact information for three references who can provide confidential letters of reference. Position Announcement The Department of Management in the Lundquist College of Business seeks to fill an open rank tenure-track position in strategy or organization theory effective September 2018. Appointment with tenure requires formal review. For truly outstanding senior candidates, there is the possibility of an endowed position.
The successful applicant will possess the scholarly ability and drive to conduct and publish research in premier management journals and the ability to teach with rigor and effectiveness. Teaching responsibilities may include undergraduate and graduate courses in introductory management or strategic management plus electives consistent with the candidate’s background and interests and department teaching needs.
Department or Program Summary The Lundquist College’s Department of Management is a collegial group whose members publish in and serve as editors or on the editorial review boards of the top management journals, including the Academy of Management Journal, Strategic Management Journal, Organization Science, Administrative Science Quarterly, Personnel Psychology, Journal of Management, Journal of Operations Management, Journal of Applied Psychology, and Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes. Current members are Ralph Heidl, Maria Kraimer, Lauren Lanahan, Reut Livne-Tarandach, Andrew Nelson, Anne Parmigiani, Michael Russo, Scott Seibert, and David Wagner. In addition, Alan Meyer, Chuck Snow, and William Starbuck remain involved in departmental activities. Allied faculty in other disciplines both within and outside the business college also share interests with faculty in the Department of Management. The Department is housed in the environmentally certified Lillis Business Complex, a facility that offers the latest in instructional technology and research support. The Business Research Institute, located in the Lillis Business Complex, is a multi-room facility that supports qualitative, experimental and survey research enabled by leading-edge technology.
Assistant Professor level: PhD in hand by time of appointment in strategy, organization theory or a related field with demonstrated potential for research and teaching excellence.
Experienced Assistant/Associate/Full Professor level: Ph.D. in strategy, organization theory or a related field; demonstrated superior teaching competence and a record of scholarly accomplishment consistent with rank that includes publication in leading academic management journals such as Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Administrative Science Quarterly, Organization Science, and Strategic Management Journal.
Professional Competencies: Requires background in strategy, organization theory or a related discipline. Commitment to diversity and have the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds. Commitment to research in strategy, organization theory that leads to publication in top journals.
Preferred Qualifications Experienced, active faculty with research streams that include, among others, technology/innovation, sustainability, and entrepreneurship. Candidates whose research programs link to these streams, or to the College’s strategic initiatives (e.g., entrepreneurship, technology/innovation, sustainable business practices) would be viewed favorably but this linkage is not required. Experience teaching at both undergraduate and graduate level.
