VICTR is Vanderbilt's virtual home forclinical and translational research. Supported by the Vanderbilt Office ofResearchandthe NIH sponsored Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA),the mission of the institute is to transform the way ideas andresearch discoveries make their way from origin to patientcare. This is accomplished using a multi-faceted approach: throughcollaboration with a wide variety of research partners; by training, nurturingand rewarding participating researchers; by funding research; by developing newand innovative ways to involve the community in research; by developing newinformatics and biostatistical systems; and by making available the latesttechnologies and sound research results affecting patient care.
In collaboration with theVUMC Human Research Protections Program (HRPP), the Research ServicesConsultant II (RSC II) assists with the optimal application of the Federal,State, and local laws, guidance documents, VUMC Institutional policies, andInstitutional Review Board (IRB) policies and procedures while meeting theobjectives of the VUMC research community. Consults on complex research andregulatory issues in conjunction with the team(s) to identify solutions anddevelop improvement processes. The RSC II researches topics of departmental,institutional or strategic importance.
Assist researchers andclinicians in improving the quality of research and grants by identifyingcollaborators, connecting investigators with resources/funding opportunities,and developing tools to further the research enterprise.
Serves as the centralresource for the research community to provide expertise and guidance oncomplex issues, operational goals, business strategies, ethical considerations,regulatory mandates, and institutional policies related to human researchprotections.
Collaborates withinternal and external customers to develop and evaluate services for theimprovement of human research protection programs.
Responsible for thecomprehension, management, and facilitation of IRB regulatory assurance(s),contracts, agreements, and IRB policies and procedures.
Facilitate work groupscomprised of members of the NIH, administrative officers, lawyers, andrepresentatives from the offices of research at various institutionsnationwide. Provide both administrative and scientific support tohelp set agendas, plan meetings, critique project proposals, and builddatabases/tools for the group.
Educate the campuscommunity regarding resources available to clinicians and researchers toimprove all aspects of the research enterprise.
Responsible fordeveloping, implementing, and maintaining a comprehensive/strategic ContinuousQuality Improvement (CQI) program for research programs within the ResearchEnterprise.
Organize administrativeteams to support national in person meetings (e.g., set meeting agendas, invitespeakers, engage possible attendees, advertise events, book meeting locations,book audio-visual services, and provide scientific/technicalconsultation).
Write scientific progressreports and technical summaries.
Leadevidence review methods development and execution within team executingassociation studies for industry, including designing and testing methods,developing evidence review deliverables for industry partners, and trainingcolleagues.
Facilitatedevelopment and implementation of personalized approaches to patient care.
Workin concert with Vanderbilt leadership in developing infrastructure forimproving expanded access to investigational therapies for seriously illpatients.
Collaboratewith leadership and other colleagues in development and submission of grantproposals related to key national initiatives.
Provideresearch support services to Vanderbilt colleagues, including evidence reviewsand other project work.
5+ yearsâ experience working in a researchsetting required
Experience in ahealthcare research setting preferred
