The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences' Web Manager is responsible for overseeing the strategic direction and maintenance of websites in the college, which includes Virginia Cooperative Extension (VCE) and the Virginia Agricultural Experiment Station (VAES).
Working as part of a collaborative team, the Web Manager will be a key player in executing a digital-first strategy and is expected to independently research, propose, and implement the newest digital trends to ensure the college, VCE, and VAES are leading the charge in web communications.
This position reports to the Director of Communications and Marketing and works with a variety of clients across the college to both update and maintain the units' main websites as well as train others to maintain and update unit sites.
The successful candidate will be expected to analyze website metrics from a user-experience perspective, develop a Search Engine Optimization (SEO) strategy, create visually engaging designs, implement an information hierarchy, and utilize cutting-edge technologies to reach desired audiences. All designs should stimulate engagement with stakeholders and encourage a culture of philanthropy by using a cohesive visual identity that adheres to the college's brand.
The Web Manager must have strong knowledge of working within a content management system as well as demonstrated experience using HMTL, CSS, Wordpress, and other web-languages. The Web Manager will also help develop and disseminate email campaigns.
Experience in higher education and/or fundraising. Understanding of UX/UI and user-centered design philosophies. Master's degree in a related field. Experience in project management. Demonstrated experience training non-technical users of software and hardware. Demonstrated experience incorporating video, audio, and other multimedia into websites.
