Requirements encompass general lab maintenance and various research tasks. Research techniques range from molecular, genetic, and biochemical methods. Duties include, but are not limited to, being in charge of maintaining mosquito colonies and transgenic lines, helping with laboratory management, performing molecular and biochemical techniques, and training relevant personnel as needed. Keeping accurate and complete laboratory records is essential. Works under direct supervision of research director and will train as needed.
B.S. degree in biology, biochemistry, or related field; Working knowledge of computers, as well as biochemical and genetics laboratory principles and procedures; Must be motivated, highly responsible, and pay attention to details; Experience learning and implementing genetics/biochemical procedures; Experience with coordinating work of lab personnel; Ability to maintain organized records.
Maintenance of mosquito colony and transgenic lines; Development and implementation of CRISPR/cas9-based Genome-editing of mosquitoes and subsequent mutation detection; Detection of protein-protein interactions using immunoprecipitation and/or the yeast two-hybrid screening; Preparation of libraries for next-gen sequencing of mRNA, miRNA, and genomic DNA samples; Specialized PCR techniques including qRT-PCR or digital droplet PCR; Experience in lab management and supervision of undergraduate students.
