This is a full-time, exempt/salary position on the UCHealth Inpatient Coding team in Metro Denver. We are seeking Certified Coders with experience in Hospital Inpatient specialty coding areas. You may work remotely after successful completion of the required on-site training program (3-6 months).
Responsible for reviewing accounts for appropriate APC and CPT assignment and/or charge accuracy for an assigned area.
Performs second level reviews of codes and/or charges at the request of other UCHealth departments and submits for rebill if appropriate.
Serves as liaison between coding department and the billing office, revenue recovery, patient access, clinical areas, quality and compliance.
Project manage government, commercial and other external audits - both automated and complex reviews.
Performs audits on coding staff per the Coding Compliance Plan and report results on the coder specific metrics.
Provides feedback to coding staff, supervisors and managers.
Report findings to Coding Education when determining a trend.
High School Diploma or GED.
3 years coding or compliance experience
1 certification from the acceptable options as defined by Coding Department, within 1 year of hire. Acceptable certifications include: RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P, CCA, CPC, CPC-H, CPC-A, COC.
