The Physics Department is a dynamic group comprised of instructional and research units and a variety of support programs and facilities. The Department consists of 21 permanent and 10 temporary faculty who teach and do research, 240 undergraduate physics majors, and 60 graduate students working towards masters and Ph.D. degrees. The Department is also closely aligned with the researchers and faculty in the Santa Cruz Institute for Particle Physics (SCIPP) and the Astronomy and Astrophysics Department. The Physics Department staff is committed to providing excellent service to students, faculty and researchers.
Under the general direction of the Department Manager, and in conjunction with the Graduate Committee (GC) the incumbent is responsible for the administration of the Physics Graduate Program. Principal functional areas of responsibility include: graduate student advising, program administration, and graduate student recruitment and admissions.

Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Demonstrated experience advising and counseling in an academic setting.
Demonstrated experience within a university setting, institution for higher education, or equivalent.
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including experience creating a variety of written materials.
