Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Director to lead Rutgers Institute of Improving Student Achievement (RIISA) of the Graduate School of Education. This position provides leadership for the Graduate School of Education in outreach to professional educators, government officials and agencies, community partners, corporate affiliates, and other stakeholders involved in PK-12 education in New Jersey. The Director designs, delivers and evaluates professional learning and executive level development programs conducted by RIISA. The duties of this position will include, but will not be limited to, the following areas of responsibility:
Engages in business and organizational management including budgeting, maintaining and growing fee for service partnerships with NJ PK-12 schools and school districts.
Hires, supervises, and evaluates staff and paid consultants who deliver work products for which RIISA have received professional fees.
Writes grant applications and administers grant awards in addition to reports that document and provide evaluation of work completed and work planned, publishing/distributing reports of the impact of RIISA work with schools/districts.
Designs, delivers, and evaluates professional development programs for NJ professional educators and leaders within a fee for service context.
Manages workshops, personalized small group and individual coaching, organizational development and leadership challenges, interpreting and using data to analyze student and staff achievement gaps.
Improves teaching and learning, delivers public presentations, consults with school-based, central office, state department of education educators, professional education organizations, as well as private sector clients seeking information and solutions to issues in the realm of public and private PK-12 education and educational services.
Provides outreach leadership and entrepreneurship needed to offer a menu of professional development services and activities that aligned with the NJ PK-12 education standards and that meets the needs of PK-12 districts, schools, and educators and leaders.
Ensures that RIISA becomes completely fiscally self-supported through revenue generation and sound business and organizational management.
Completes various other task and duties as assigned consistent with a basic understanding of the mission, vision and goal of the Rutgers Institute for Improving Student Achievement.

Ed.D or Ph.D. preferred in education or an equivalent combination of education and/or business experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of educational administration, organization, business/financial practices and report writing.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Requires excellent communication skills including technology literacy.
Advanced knowledge in educational leadership preK-12 is required.
Must have current knowledge, insight and understanding about effective educational practices that ensure high quality teaching and learning for all PK-12 students in the context of state and federal policy mandates.
Requires knowledge of elementary, secondary, vocational, charter, private and parochial schools, school districts, NJ State regulations governing public, private education.
Knowledge of NJ resources, cities/towns/ counties, its municipalities and its public and private education advocacy breakdown.
Requires demonstrated success and expertise in one or more of the following areas:
School Leadership: developing as well as expanding leadership and capacity among all members of a school community and with professional organizations at the NJ State, northeast region and national level;
Assessment and Evaluation: interpreting and using data to improve teaching and learning, leadership development;
Content and Teaching Expertise: developing both the necessary understanding of content and the pedagogy for quality teaching and student achievement in various subjects;
School and District Reform: integrating national, as well as international standards as the critical measure of the outcomes necessary for high school graduation;
Outreach and Collaborative Program Design and Delivery; services available to assist school/university partnerships, profit and not-for-profit organizations, foundations, corporations and business entities;
Exceptional interpersonal skills and business acumen to generate revenue and to be entrepreneurial within a fee for service model of operation.
