The Business Strategy Associate works with the Head of Strategy & Planning, conducting strategic initiatives, research and commercial management support relating to M&G's institutional activities. The team delivers business strategy activities for M&G's Fixed Income business unit, as well as M&G's Institutional Distribution function across asset classes (equities, fixed income, multi-asset, real estate).
Your Key Responsibilities Will Be:
* Carrying out business strategy activities such as research, analysis, synthesis of findings, and communicating conclusions and recommendations to a wide range of stakeholders within and outside M&G's Institutional Distribution and Fixed Income areas. * Supporting the development of strategic business cases for activities such as new market entry/international expansion projects. (Helping to take such proposals through internal approvals). * Ownership of strategy initiatives or tasks when appropriate, with supervision from Head of Strategy & Planning. * Leading institutional distribution market intelligence activities. (E.g. organising sessions with third party market research firms, curating strategy and market research papers for the Institutional Strategy intranet page, managing subscription / purchase of external market research). * Providing written updates on current strategic initiatives to various stakeholders, including M&G senior management. * Supporting Head of Strategy & Planning with production of reports, presentations, memos, minutes, board papers and other materials as required (including e.g. Quarterly FI staff update presentations for CEO Fixed Income).
What we are Looking for:
* Post-university work experience, ideally at a professional services firm (e.g. strategy consulting or market research), with a track record of managing project workstreams or small standalone projects. * Strong communications skills including both verbal and written (including producing concise memos, longer reports, as well as slide presentations) are critical for the role. * Experience in sourcing information and conducting research (e.g. on developments and trends in the competitive landscape). * Energetic and self-motivated, willing to work with varying levels of supervision, demonstrating ability to show initiative and take ownership of tasks given. * Ability to work in a multi-stakeholder environment, quick to understand and pick up nuances of different stakeholders' motivations and concerns. * Robust analytical ability, e.g. Excel modelling skills. * Financial services experience is essential, and asset management experience would be an advantage. * Interest in and understanding of investment management.
