The Chemical and Petroleum Engineering department at the University of Pittsburgh Swanson School of Engineering was established in 1910, making it the first department for petroleum engineering in the world. Today, our department has over 40 expert faculty (tenure/tenure-stream/joint/adjunct), a host of dedicated staff, more than 20 state-of-the-art laboratories and learning centers, and education programs that enrich with strong fundamentals and hands-on experience.
The Undergraduate Program Administrative Assistant will provide support for the department and department's undergraduate coordinator. The candidate will be responsible for maintaining records on current and potential undergraduate students. The Undergraduate Program Administrative Assistant will be the liaison between the undergraduate coordinator and the students. Duties for this position include: working with the undergraduate coordinator on academic programs and assisting the students. Other duties will include: answering e-mail and phones, greeting visitors, filing, typing, mailings, website maintenance, special event coordination and general office duties. Candidate must have excellent organizational skills, as well as an attention to detail, ability to work independently and be able to multitask.

Additional Education and/or Experience Essential to the Position
Excellent written and oral communication skills, basic math skills, and proficient word processing skills (MS word, excel, access, outlook) experience with word processing software and the capability to understand and follow University policy and procedures. Two years administrative and/or school environment experience, excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and computer skills.
