We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Central Supply Tech Coordinator.
In this role, the successful candidate is responsible for the analysis, support, and maintenance of instrument tracking system. Manages internal/external data resources for import/export use. Communicates with Perioperative and Nursing Departments concerning instrumentation and sterilization parameters. Collects and updates manufacturer recommendations for equipment and instrumentation. Supervises sterile processing activities, staff scheduling, shift management and the coordination of surgical instruments to the operating rooms. Maintains and updates count-sheets and Regulation Manuals in accordance with compliance, risk and audits policies and procedures. Assists with coordination and monitoring of all sterile processing functions such as decontamination, preparation/packaging, and sterilization of surgical instruments.
Ensures the accuracy and completeness of the database of over 2,000 instrument sets and equipment including the identification and elimination of any data or operational discrepancies. Responsible for the daily review of all activities and reports associated with the SPM (Sterile Processing Microsystems) application.
Collects, inputs and generates statistical analyses from SPM to report staff productivity, instrumentation utilization, wrapped versus filtered containers, and missing instrumentation. Develops specific instrumentation purchase recommendations with Perioperative Services to optimize purchase acquisitions.
Conducts weekly quality assurance audits of the data that validates all parameters including manufacturer recommendations, biological testing, sterilization parameters and task productivity timings.
Contributes to staff competency, efficiency and enhanced service levels by compiling visual documentation of instrumentation in SPM.
Works with the appropriate OR Services Clinicians in maintaining and updating the count-sheets in SPM. Interfaces at all levels to resolve any application discrepancies, educational guides, and tutorial highlights for sets, instruments and sterilizers.
Assists IT department in the day-to-day operational support of the hardware, software, application, and network.
Supervises sterile processing activities in the absence (i.e., vacations, training, any sickness) of regular staff supervision (Assistant ManagersCentral Service) including staff scheduling and management and assurance of the flow of required instrumentation and equipment to the operating rooms and across the Medical Center.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Associate's Degree or equivalent combination of experience and academic background.
Must be a Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST)
Possess comprehensive knowledge and experience in sterile processing regulatory standards
In-depth knowledge of information technology and system network infrastructure
Knowledge of Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and Access and basic computer knowledge
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Two years of responsible Central Service/Materials Management hospital experience
Comprehensive knowledge in inventory control, supply distribution, receiving, reprocessing techniques and principles, production management, and regulating agencies standards
Courses in information technology
