In This Role, You Will...
Assist with portfolio reviews, create managed prospect lists, conduct periodic check-ins with development officers and provide prospect research and data analysis both proactively and reactively to the development team.
Independently write accurate prospect profiles for successful donor calls and provide strategic research and wealth assessments for staff.
Work with research team leadership to implement new strategies for the department. You will also provide creative and resourceful input for challenges related to research, prospecting and reporting.
Independently query data and pull reports to ensure information integrity of system data.
Use online technology and print resources to gather, analyze and interpret information. Using your sound judgment and expertise, make educated and ethical calls on the validity, importance and quality of information found during the research process.
Communicate in a variety of ways for a variety of purposes with a variety of audiences. You will inform and advise fundraising staff of current developments of prospect and donors they are managing.
Required Education and Experience:
To Be Successful, You Will Need...
Bachelor's degree is required. Possessing knowledge of fundraising best practices and Association of Professional Researchers for Advancement skills set will set you apart from other candidates.
Strong technical skills. Minimum of two years using Microsoft Suite at an intermediate to advanced level is required and prior experience with Microsoft Access is a plus. You must also have experience with internet searches and available online research sources for gathering information.
Excellent verbal and written skills with the ability to effectively communicate with a variety of audiences.
Effective problem-solving skills and resourcefulness. You can champion donor-centeredness by understanding the desires of your internal customers who service our donors, and create simple solutions.
Strong commitment to confidentiality to protect our donor/prospect's highly sensitive information.
Ability to multi-task and manage multiple initiatives with independence, creativity and effectiveness.
Strong team orientation, a dedicated work ethic and a positive and professional attitude.
Creativity, patience and a sense of humor!
Preferred Education and Experience:
Experience with fundraising in higher education or non-profit setting is preferred; experience in prospect research is a plus; possessing knowledge of fundraising best practices and Association of Professional Researchers for Advancement skills.
