The Research Specialist will have the primary responsibilities of producing event bios and cultivation bios to support major gift development activities. The Specialist will also verify wealth screening results, produce reliable information on new prospects, maintain prospect management data, and perform consistent biographical/contact information research and updates.
Work may be required evenings, weekends, and during established University events such as the annual President’s Circle Dinner and All-American Weekend and/or to meet deadlines. Position located at the 4401 Connecticut Avenue NW location.

Bachelor’s degree required.
One to two years of experience in Prospect Research or similar positions/roles involving internet-based Research, biographical or genealogical research, financial analysis, or data management
Experience with proactive fundraising management and research techniques
Demonstrated ability using technology to gather, interpret, organize, and present data that is complex and confidential in nature
Demonstrated ability to synthesize data found in research into clear and concise written documents
Proficiency in MS Word (merges, advanced formatting), MS Excel (including filtering, equations), and MS Access (queries, mail merges, forms)
Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, and a demonstrated experience successfully working with persons from diverse backgrounds
Sound judgment and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a deadline-oriented environment
Proficiency in recognition of wealth indicators and knowledge of business terms, and judgement to identify what constitutes relevant, credible, and strategic information
Knowledge of University structure and prospect management system a plus
Experience with online databases such as LexisNexis, WealthEngine, Foundation Directory, iWave, SEC Documents also a plus
