The Security Supervisor must be self-motivated and under limited supervision, contribute to the physical safety and security of our NY facilities, warehouses, regional offices and plan/supervise tours and events. This position is responsible for ensuring the contract security staff comply with the security procedures at our facilities and when delivering services offsite. The Security Supervisor is responsible for conducting a detailed risk analysis for all tours and events, both on and off site. The Security Supervisor is responsible for maximizing the value delivered by all technical security measures as part of the broader security operation and risk assessing the additional operational requirements to safeguard people and property. The Security Supervisor is assigned administrative duties by the Deputy Director and the Director of Security. The Security Supervisor will manage, train and motivate a team of contract security officers. The Security Supervisor will assume the duties of the Deputy Director of Security when needed.
Specific duties & responsibilities will include but are not limited to
Responsible for insuring that all physical and technical security measures are fit for purpose and fully functioning at our facilities.
Ensure all technical security measures are operating properly and any equipment malfunctions are reported to the technical team immediately.
Provide appropriate security for the display and transport of high value luxury goods.
Responsible for creating a work schedule for security staff
Determine weekly manpower requirements and delivering best value within the departmental budget
Conduct detailed risk analysis of facilities and events and develop risk mitigation plans for approval.
Liaising with security Guard vendors to provide the appropriate volume and quality of service
Research, develop, Quality assure and deliver daily briefings to, and inspection of, the security staff
Manage all daily security activities and conduct frequent building patrols/spot inspections at any of our facilities.
Investigate and report on all building alarms
Act as the Fire/Safety liaison lead person when required
Lead or assist with internal investigations when required
Compose incident and investigative reports utilizing an incident management system.
Responsible for effective and timely departmental communications.
Responsible for ensuring the vendor provides the appropriate standard of trained security officers and evaluating their performance.
Be accountable for all eventualities during his/her shift
Travel when needed in support of regional events and international hand carries.
Assist with technical security projects.
College degree as a minimum, specialized in criminal justice, security management or social science preferred
Professional Security Certification e.g. Certified Security Professional (CPP), Certified Protection Officer (CPO), Certified in Security Supervision and Management (CSSM) preferred.
5 years minimum security industry experience in a supervisory role.
NYS Security Guard License Required
Fire/Safety Guard License Required; Fire Safety Director License Preferred
Proficient in the use of Security Access Control systems, CCTV, GPS, Digital Two Way Radio, Mass Notification systems, Incident Management response and other technical security systems.
Clear and effective communication in spoken and written English
Superior client service and communication skills
Proficient in the use of E-mail, Spreadsheet, Windows Excel, Word Processing and Presentation software (Microsoft Office preferred) with strong typing skills
Ability to read and interpret documents; write complex reports and correspondence utilizing various automated systems, able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form
Ability to remain calm in stressful situations
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and time management ability
Must be able to travel internationally and nationally.
Must have strong interpersonal skills and be able to maintain relationships with stakeholders and colleagues from across the organization and with clients.
To be an ambassador for the Security Department.
